REDARC launches Battery Master Isolation Switch

REDARC is proud to announce the release of its new Battery Master Isolation Switch (BMIS) to the market for commercial vehicles and other heavy trucks, developed and manufactured in its Adelaide-based facility.

The Battery Master Isolation Switch is designed to safely isolate the vehicle batteries in both 12 volt and 24 volt vehicles and will ensure reliable performance when the vehicle is operating.

Designed and tested to meet stringent industry standards, the REDARC BMIS reassuringly exceeds the requirements for large diesel engines. It also features an ISO 26262 rated dual redundancy system to avoid false triggering.

The REDARC BMIS is an original-equipment (OE) fitment at Kenworth and is available in 2 models, 4PN (Positive, Negative Isolation) and 4PP (Positive, Positive Isolation).

Manufactured by REDARC, it has been designed to overcome common issues found in current Battery Isolation Switches on the market to ensure a superior, more reliable, high quality Australian made product.

The BMIS has been built for heavy vehicle applications, it features a durable, UV resistant housing so it won’t be damaged by rocks and water, it is rated IP66 & IP 67, includes a continuous self-checking function, an inbuilt lockout capability and inbuilt diagnosis for external looms and remote actuating devices.

The BMIS provides 400 amp continuous current to ensure compatibility with alternators and 3500 amps at cranking.

Redarc’s Managing Director, Mr Anthony Kittel, said the BMIS had undergone extensive independent testing and validation including rugged infield trials to ensure the unit could be fitted as OE at Kenworth.

He said that this is an example of collaboration and cooperation between REDARC and Kenworth Engineering teams to ensure a world best product outcome.

“We have spent over 20 years working with truck original equipment manufacturers and our design engineers continue to set the industry benchmark for innovation in electronic vehicle technology,” Mr Kittel said.

The BMIS is easy to install from new or as a retrofit. In retrofit installations, REDARC have developed a BMIS-CK Connector Kit and a BMIS-AP Adaptor Plate in order to make installation as simple as possible.

The BMIS is also compatible with existing Roll-Over Sensors (ROS) with a dedicated ROS power output in the wiring configuration of the multi-pin plug.

REDARC officially previewed the BMIS as the International Truck Trailer & Equipment Show in Melbourne this year, it is now available for purchase through PACCAR parts.
