Sunny side up...REDARC's WA based Hilux gets the full Solar treatment!!
A REDARC Solar 150W Monocrystalline panel (part number SMR1150) has been mounted on a custom built frame above the canopy with gas struts to achieve 30% angle to the sun. The roof rack system over the cab has two REDARC Solar 80W Monocrystalline panels (SMR1080) permanently mounted to top up the auxiliary batteries when the vehicle is parked.
The 150Watt panel, when stationary, is 50/50 split charging the main start battery and one of the auxiliary batteries in the rear but when driving is taken out of the circuit.
With the press of a button however the 150Watt panel can be joined with the 2 x 80Watt panels and feed 310Watts into either the BMS1215S2 or BCDC1240. On a sunny day, the BCDC1240 has managed to pump out over 20Amps on solar!
If you want to check out the fully operational display in person, get down to the Perth 4WD Show this coming weekend and speak to Mark Bruce, REDARC's dedicated WA based, National Customer Development Manager.
The Perth 4WD Show will be held at McCallum Park, 9th - 11th November, with gates opening at 9am each day.
