Manufacturing Engineering Position Available

PURPOSE OF JOB AND GENERAL DUTIES

As a member of the Manufacturing Engineering team provide manufacturing engineering support for the development and improvement of products, production processes and equipment. Responsibilities will include:

  • Ownership of the continuous improvement, monitoring and development of Redarc's manufacturing operations ensuring the highest quality / lowest cost solutions using lean manufacturing principles
  • Project manage the implementation of new equipment, plant changes, process changes; including the tracking of expenditure against progress and approval of progress payments to purchasing, commissioning, testing and buy off
  • Working closely with R&D and production employees to enable design for manufacture for new products and develop and implement their manufacturing methods
  • Conduct feasibility studies of new processes
  • Preparation of justifications for new plant and equipment
  • Participate in  DFMEA and PFMEA and prototype test and pilot production reviews
  • PCP development with checks and measurable in conjunction with Quality
  • SPC process capability analysis and countermeasure for out of spec
  • Optimise processes to eliminate difficult and inconsistent activities
  • Implement Lean manufacturing processes, including design of new work cells
  • Working closely with Production to rectify operational problems as they arise and manage maintenance of the production facilities and equipment
  • Optimisation of equipment usage to improve through rate, reduce faulty products / defects, improve utilisation and FTC
  • Calculate OEE (Operating Equipment Efficiency) and report status v target, negotiate countermeasure activity
  • Focus on improved first time capability of top products with a view to reducing common root causes of production based faults.
  • Develop and manage Pilot Build programs

 

Qualifications - essential

  • Bachelor Degree in Manufacturing Engineering with 5 years industry experience or 10 years relevant industry experience
  • Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma

 

Position / Experience Requirements

  • Substantial engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Significant practical experience leading change and improvement projects with JIT, Lean, KANBAN, Six Sigma, 5S, 8D, TPS etc
  • Demonstrated capabilities in providing technical support and analysis of new or proposed products or enhancements
  • Ability to work as part of multi-disciplined cross functional teams
  • Team player who is hands on, flexible and adaptable
  •  Advanced skills in MS Office
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to prioritise workload
  • Excellent negotiating skills
  • Initiative and drive
  • A relentless desire for improvement
  • Ability to communicate with people at all levels through a business - influence, support, encourage and guide individuals
  • Experience of working on projects using the APQP or stage gate process
  • Knowledge of ISO9000 & ISO14001
