SBI or not

I have a 2014 Prado and I'm installing a dual battery set up.

Do you need a SBI if you install one of the BDDC chargers?  Is the charger smart enough to do the job of the SBI as well as charge?

Hi Travis,
The SBI12 will keep your aux battery connected to your start battery while the alternator is charging and isolate them when the alternator is not charging. This will give a good basic charge to your aux battery, typically around 70% SOC from that Temperature Compensating Alternator.
If you would prefer a more complete 100% SOC from a 3 stage charger, you should use the BCDC1225D for a single aux battery, or a BCDC1240D if you have two or more aux batteries.
I trust this has answered your question clearly. If you have any further queries, please feel free to post again or call.
