Charging of Trailer Batteries

Good morning all,

I am about to get a new camper trailer and want to charger the two 100 amp batteries in it whilst driving.

My setup is:

One starter in the engine bay, which is connected to a BCDC1225D  (with a 150W solar panel on canopy roof) to two 100 amp batteries in the canopy.

I have an Anderson plug (fused) connected to the dual batteries in the canopy, with the intention of charging the two batteries in the trailer - Will this work or is another BCDC required?

Thank you,

Hi Daniel,
Thanks for your post.

In general, it is ideal to have another BCDC in the camper for its batteries yes. This is mainly due to the distance between the BCDC in the vehicle already and these batteries - the ones further back in the system would struggle to get a charge, plus that sized unit would have to work extremely hard to charge 4x batteries!
Consider another BCDC1225D for the camper and this will work quite well.

Please let me know if you have any further questions Daniel!

Best regards,
