REDARC Attends CFS Foundation Fire Trail

REDARC Attends CFS Foundation Fire Trail

The CFS Foundation raises funds to assist in the relief of suffering, disability, distress or misfortune of CFS volunteers resulting from their community service activities.

REDARC provided sponsorship for the inaugural CFS Foundation Fundraiser, CFS Fire Trail, which occurred during the October long weekend (30 Sept-3 Oct 16). The Fire Trail is a 4-day, 3-night camping adventure where entrants started in Adelaide travelled via country SA towns to Quorn, and finishing at Mallala after passing through the fire-ravaged Pinery area.

REDARC was represented by Shane Wreford and a close friend during the weekend. Here's what Shane had to say about the event:

“It was my pleasure to support the inaugural CFS foundation fundraiser Fire Trail and represent REDARC, living in Meadows (South Australia) I often see the CFS in action assisting the local community in many ways –

  •          Educating residents in developing escape plans for possible bushfires
  •          Keeping residents, livestock and homes safe from natural events
  •          Or being the first responders for car crashes

All of this in their own time and expense.

Approximately 60 people attended in 20 cars; varying ages from new born twins to retirees. Some were sponsors like REDARC others were people who paid funds to attend and also raise additional funds to assist CFS foundation.

Whilst the weather was challenging throughout the 4 days and caused many route changes it proved to be a challenging, well run and organised event with lots of laughs along the way.

It’s family friendly and a great laugh with new friends along the way, seeing parts of South Australia that many of us would not normally see."
