Mike will also be responsible for developing new business opportunities to ensure defence becomes a key strategic pillar within REDARC.
Managing Director, Anthony Kittel said, “We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Mike to the team who not only has the military background but also the skills and knowledge in building defence relationships that will set us up for success.”
“This appointment comes after our five-year strategic plan established defence as a key pillar within the business which will see us grow significantly through to 2020 and beyond”, he added.
Mike Hartas will be further supported by our Defence Strategic Advisor, Kim Scott, REDARC Engineering Manager & Defence Liaison Dr. David Murfett and the REDARC Defence Project Team.
REDARC’s engineering and innovation capability and quality manufacturing and assembly capabilities see it placed as a key SME in the Australian Defence sector which will enable it to become a supplier of military spec products through the modification of existing product offerings to suit current and future military systems.
Recently REDARC was announced as a teaming partner for both BAE Systems and Rheinmetall who are contenders for the multi-billion-dollar, Land 400 Phase 2 contract. More recently, REDARC has been engaging with the maritime sector and have been encouraged by the number of primes open to exploring new business opportunities.
To further enhance its advanced manufacturing capabilities, REDARC is planning a major facility expansion, which will see REDARC purchase new state of the art testing and validation equipment to ensure compliance with international regulations and military standards.
The expansion will increase manufacturing capacity by 250% and provide product assembly 2 times faster than what can currently be achieved, while adding an additional 2000sqm of advanced manufacturing space. REDARC has also established an innovation hub at the Williamtown Aerospace Centre (WAC) in NSW to help it build on its defence capabilities and be a neighbour to leading defence organisations such as Boeing, Raytheon Australia, Nova Systems and BAE Systems.
