112W Solar Blanket Amorphous Cells

The 112 watt REDARC Solar Blanket Amorphous Cells is a portable solar panel, offering superior flexibility in a light weight, conveniently sized package.
SKU: SAF1112
$2,295.00 (AUD)

The Solar Blanket Amorphous Cells is available as a 112 watt portable solar blanket. Using the latest in Solar technology it offers superior flexibility in a light weight, conveniently sized package. Its flexible design reduces the risk of cell breakage and cracks and is known to perform better in shade compared to crystalline panels- making it the most flexible portable solar panel in the market.

The amorphous cell uses Uni-Solar® cell technology which incorporates a triple layer system and is optimised to capture the full spectrum of light compared to conventional monocrystalline and polycrystalline solar cells.

Designed to charge Automotive, Marine and Recreational Vehicle battery systems, the 112W Solar Blanket Amorphous cell, will provide extra charge into a battery.

Using an anti-reflective scratch-resistant ETFE coating, the 112W Solar Blanket Amorphous Cells features a high melting temperature, is UV resistant and has chemical and self-cleaning non-stick resistance properties, making this solar blanket highly reliable and efficient.

What’s more set up is now even easier thanks to genuine industry standard Anderson™ SB™50 connectors. These high quality Anderson™ plugs are simple and fast to connect with no screw terminals and no risk of poor connections from frayed wired or loose terminals – just plug and play!

REDARC recommends the purchase of a REDARC Solar Regulator, which is essential to ensure that the correct charge is supplied safely and efficiently and will protect batteries from over charging. Minimum 10A Solar Regulator required for the 112W Amorphous solar blanket.

Why not consider the REDARC 20 Amp Solar Value Pack, which includes all you need to connect your blanket to your battery. This pack includes a 5m cable, a 20A Solar Regulator and a battery clip cable

The new generation, state-of-the-art solar blanket heralds an exciting new period in solar power in a lightweight, convenient sized package.

What is the difference between amorphous and crystalline silicon panels?

Amorphous type solar technology uses Silicon in a non-crystalline, random form. It can be deposited onto many different substrates to give effects like flexibility for use in different applications. Amorphous type solar technology falls under the 'thin-film' category of solar modules. Amorphous type solar panels have a typical efficiency of around 6-7%.

Crystalline silicon type solar technology refers to moncrystalline and polycrystalline panels. These panels are created from silicon in a tetrahedral lattice type structure. This structure give crystalline silicon type solar modules a higher efficiency per square meter than amorphous type modules.

Blanket that goes around the world!
The 112 watt amorphous cells portable solar blanket is one of our most used tools. Weight is something you always have too much of on a travel like ours and space is less. That’s why we wanted this good all-round solar blanket, that’s quick to use, easy to set up, dynamic, strong and reliable. Anderson connections make it quick to connect in different settings and as long as there is a solar regulator connected in between it can be connected directly to the battery. It packs up into a small package for storage, but while using it folds out to a serious blanket which covers the entire bonnet of the car. Anderson cables in different sizes which are easy to put together make it possible to put the blanket in the sun while our rig is placed in that nice shady spot next to the river. But be warned that the panel doesn’t get taken or picked up by the wind, because it’s that light! Crossing Africa during raining-season and Europe in spring we cannot always rely on direct sunlight. That’s why we have chosen to use the amorphous cells blanket which gives you better results in cloudy and shady conditions. And I have to say, I’m very impressed! Having an early breakfast or late sundowners, as long as the sun is out there somewhere, the blanket gives off charge. To me it seems that it doesn’t really matter; whether you are traveling for a living, just spending a weekend in the bush, going fishing for a couple of days and depend on your fridge or you are temporarily high up in a mountain shack relying on your 12V system: we’ve tried it, it works!
