All vehicles that run Glo plugs need to heat them in some way - usually the vehicle will have a factory control unit and when these fail it is more economical to replace the timer with a REDARC control unit.
The Controllers come in three basic configurations:-
Standard Controller:- will activate glo plugs for set time (adjustable) 3 to 20 seconds before the engine is started.
Pulse Controller:- Activates glo plugs in the normal way - then when the ignition switch is turned to the start position the controller will commence pulsing the glo plugs 1 second on and 1 second off for 30 seconds using the same output wire.

Dual Controller:- Activates glo plugs in the normal way. When the ignition switch is turned to the start position the controller will switch on the second output feed. This feed will come on constantly for 60 seconds and is normally used with a second relay and voltage dropping resistor found on the vehicle.
The crank disable and temperature control seek to emulate the operation of original factory timers. Hot engines don't need the plugs glowing for the same length of time as cold engines. Factory timers use intelligent electronics and systems to achieve this. The REDARC Glo Plug Timers do the same.
The crank disable feature overrides the timer during starting. By fitting the optional Temperature Sensor (supplied), the pre and after-glo time periods are adjusted for engine temperature. |
